A certain number not 100-ish Books in 2009
65. A Change In Altitude by Anita Shreve (F)
64. The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (F)
63. Murder at Longbourn by Tracy Kiely (F)
62. The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry (F)
61. Twisted Tree by Kent Meyers (F)
60. Bird in Hand by Christina Baker Kline (F)
59. The Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott (F) pretty good stuff!
58. A Pearl in the Storm: How I Found My Heart in the Middle of the Ocean (NF) Fantastic. Definitely one of the best books of the year!
57. The Book of Love by Kathleen McGowan (F) pretty good
56. The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell (NF) Very mixed - think this is good though, as it proves the book's worth as thought-provoking. May have more to say after attending author talk tonight.
55. The Expected One by Kathleen McGowan (F) Good - re-read b/c the sequel is out!
54. The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar (F) Good, but I have read books that take place in India that I have liked better
53. The Glister by John Burnside (F) uh. ok. whatevs
52. Olive Kittredge by Elizabeth Strout (F) great read! now I have a reference point when I try to explain the old lady I fear, but think, I'll become. LOL.
51. Girl in a Blue Dress by Gaynor Arnold (F) good
50. The Alienist by Caleb Carr (F) recommendation from the platelet donor clinic. Good stuff.
49. The Neighbor by Lisa Gardner (F) Tasty piece of fiction-ness!
48. The Monsters of Templeton by Lauren Groff (F) Uh. ok.
47. Dreaming in Hindi by Katherine Russell Rich (NF) hmm. this book. don't know what to say except I will probably never attempt to learn Hindi.
46. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and(ish) Seth Grahame-Smith (F) Odd. Very odd. But not a totally unworthy read because the book went so quickly and at times was laugh out loud ridiculous
45. I See You Everywhere by Julia Glass (F) This one was kinda disappointing compared to Julia's fantastic first two....
44. The Lacemakers of Glenmara by Heather Barbieri (F)
43. Pomegranate Soup by Marsha Mehran (F)
42. Belong to Me by Marisa de los Santos (F)
41. A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway (NF)
40. The Pursuit of Alice Thrift by Elinor Lipman (F) funny funny
39. Wildflower: An Extraordinary Life and Untimely Death in Africa by Mark Seal (NF) Fantastically interesting, sad, and painfully accurate in so many ways. In the biography of one woman you are able to get a sense of the insurmountable troubles facing Kenya as well as learn more about an extraordinary person who had not yet reached the peak of her influence (in my opinion). Top ten for '09 for sure.
38. The Girl from Junchow by Kate Furnivall (F) read in 24 hours. Offically addicted - drop what you're reading and pick up these two books. I'm sad they're over.. *sigh*
37. The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall (F) good stuff
36. The Help by Kathryn Stockett (F) Prob #1 of '09. READ IT!
35. Dinner with Anna Karenina by Gloria Goldreich (F) eh.
34. Bitsy's Bait and BBQ by Pamela Morsi (F) Like a labrador, dumb but sweet.
33. Columbine by Dave Cullen (NF) I was unexpectedly fascinated by this book. It's terrifying, but finally sets the story straight.
32. Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan (F) See book review, ha ha
31. Admission by Jean Hanff Korelitz (F) Great. I rooted for the main character. I hated the author's obnoxious tone about All Things Princeton. That was exhausting. Luckily everything else overshadowed it in the end.
30. Life List by Olivia Gentile (NF) Fantastic
29. White Mischief, The Murder of Lord Errol by James Fox (NF)
28. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (F) Fun. Something different.
27. A Supremely Bad Idea: Three Mad Birders and Their Quest to See It All by Luke Dempsey (NF) - Funny
26. The House at Sugar Beach by Helene Cooper (NF)
25. Tell Me Where It Hurts by Nick Trout (NF) Vet from Angell Memorial - it's fantastic, top 10 for interestingness alone.

3. Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyers (F)
2. Eclipse by Stephanie Meyers (F) (My fav in the Twilight Saga)

About Me
Al
I'm a girl and I live in the Boston area though make constant trips down to New York City because that is where fiance lives, as well as a few other close and dear friends. After four years at a job I loved to hate, I got a HUGE promotion and am now crazy busy, but am enjoying it for a change. I am a fan of football AND Grey's Anatomy and a lot of other (sometimes trashy) TV. I try to be a craft goddess and a baking goddess. I read almost non-stop and even if a book is crappy, I tend to stick with it because I HAVE to know the ending. I love Kenya, and have been there twice but wasn't faithful about keeping a journal, so I try to compensate for that on this blog from time to time.
